My name is Katie West. I use my camera to lessen the need for therapy..
The possibility to continually redefine one’s self is the
primary motivation in my photography. My photography acts as therapy,
and as such, continually reflects my self-exploration in an intimate,
often vulnerable fashion. My photography can just as easily express
explicit sexuality as it can intense loneliness. The presence of
these and other themes in my work are not only personally relevant,
but are also able to capture something I believe most people can
identify with. My goal is to create an image that can be appreciated
as both a great photograph but also as a moment in time that is
recognized in the lives of those who view it.
Also, I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I have a degree in English. I am still figuring out what I want to do with my life. I have: four cats, Ana, Hailey,
Logan and Bruce; one soon-to-be-husband, Matt; and one best friend and business
partner, Shannon.
I like sunny days, Star Trek, comic books,
grocery shopping at 2 am, The Cure, watching movies, monochromatic
colour schemes, Canadian comedic television shows, Bruce Springsteen,
road trips, sci-fi, space, The Food Network, and antique shopping.
If you have any questions concerning what I do, or you want to
work with me, or you want to show me something neat, you should
contact me. |
